2. Authorisation
It is possible to open two types of communication channels in the branch office PBX NetStar – protected and unprotected. If you connect to the PBX via a serial cable it can be set in the menu System > Bridge, but normally only one channel is open – secured channel on the port 6992. Unprotected channels are typically used for connecting internal components inside the device. They are not protected by authentication mechanism of any kind and they provide full access to the target system. They should not be used for connecting external applications because they represent serious security risk! Configuration tools and other accessories should be connected via protected communication channels. Before the target system enables communication with protected channel the connecting application must be authorized. What operations will be permitted within the system depends on the settings of the access rights assigned to the access account used.
